Kenton Ridge 10, Indian Lake 0 (6 innings)
Indian Lake fell to Kenton Ridge 10-0 in a six-inning run-rule contest, dropping to 1-1 on the season.
The Lady Lakers opened strong, with Bre Wisener holding the Cougars hitless through two innings while recording a strikeout and getting solid defensive support. Indian Lake put a few runners on early, but couldn’t convert.
Kenton Ridge broke through in the third after a leadoff walk, as Kendall Glass delivered an RBI double and later scored on a groundout from Chloe Glass. Following a Lily Foulk single, Brenna Fyffe added a two-run homer to make it 4-0.
The Cougars extended the lead in the fifth behind a two-run homer from Jayden Davis and back-to-back doubles to go up 7-0.
In the sixth, walks and errors set up the run-rule finish, with Annie Fincham and Kendall Massie delivering consecutive singles to seal the 10-0 win.
Indian Lake was limited to three hits, with MacKenzie Miller, Bre Wisener, and Brylee Buyer each recording one.
The Lady Lakers will look to bounce back Saturday, March 28 at Fort Recovery.
Urbana 16, Madison Plains 12 (6 innings)
Urbana improved to 4-0 in a high-scoring 16-12 win over Madison Plains, using a pair of big innings to power the offense.
The Hillclimbers struck first, capitalizing on walks and passed balls as Chloe Easterday scored, followed by an RBI double from Morgan Boyd to bring home Bailee Packer for a 2-0 lead. Madison Plains answered in the bottom of the first, and the game stayed close through two innings.
Urbana broke it open in the third, taking advantage of errors and walks along with an RBI double from Addie Fox to score six runs. The Hillclimbers kept rolling in the fourth, drawing five more walks and benefiting from defensive miscues, with Lillian Webb adding an RBI single and Packer driving in two runs to stretch the lead to 15-2.
Madison Plains responded with a rally, highlighted by a three-RBI triple from Kenzie Vallery to cut the deficit to 15-6. Urbana added a run in the sixth on a leadoff triple from Lilah Risner, but Madison Plains mounted one final push as five straight batters reached, trimming the lead to 16-12.
Isla Wooten shut the door with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game, finishing with eight strikeouts in the win after returning in relief.
Addie Fox led Urbana with a double, three RBIs, and three runs scored, while Morgan Hoffman went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double, triple, two walks, an RBI, and a run scored.
Urbana will look to remain unbeaten as it travels to Greeneview on Friday.
