Local baseball and softball stars earn 2026 All-Ohio honors

Eight athletes from Logan and Champaign counties have earned statewide recognition after being named to the 2026 All-Ohio Baseball and Softball Teams.

Players from Urbana, West Liberty-Salem, and Mechanicsburg were honored following outstanding seasons that saw several rank among Ohio’s statistical leaders.

Baseball

Division IV Honorable Mention

Carter Houseman, Urbana (Outfielder)

Houseman capped off an outstanding season by batting .402 with 39 hits, 39 runs scored, five doubles, two triples, one home run, 17 RBIs and 17 stolen bases while posting a .513 on-base percentage.

He led the Central Buckeye Conference in hits, finished second in the conference in runs scored, fifth in stolen bases, and tied for 10th in Ohio in runs scored.

Grady Lantz, Urbana (Utility)

Ohio State commit Grady Lantz earned Division IV Honorable Mention after another exceptional two-way season.

At the plate, Lantz hit .359 with 33 hits, 32 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 33 RBIs and 12 stolen bases while posting a .487 on-base percentage.

On the mound, he went 5-4 with a 1.782 ERA over 55 innings, striking out 90 batters.

Lantz tied for second in the CBC in home runs, finished third in RBIs and second in strikeouts. His 33 RBIs tied for 16th in Ohio, while his 90 strikeouts ranked 13th in the state.

Kevin Endres, Urbana (Utility)

Kevin Endres also earned Division IV Honorable Mention after putting together another dominant all-around season.

He batted .390 with 32 hits, 24 runs, seven doubles, five home runs and 35 RBIs while recording a .527 on-base percentage.

On the mound, Endres finished 6-1 with a 1.065 ERA and struck out 91 batters in 46 innings.

He tied for second in the CBC in home runs, finished second in RBIs, first in strikeouts and sixth in ERA. His 35 RBIs tied for eighth in Ohio, while his 91 strikeouts ranked 13th statewide.

Division V Second Team

Jeremiah “JJ” Johnson, West Liberty-Salem (Outfielder)

Johnson earned Division V Second Team All-Ohio honors after batting .451 with 32 hits, 22 runs, seven doubles, three triples, two home runs, 26 RBIs and nine stolen bases.

He finished tied for seventh in the Ohio Heritage Conference in hits and fifth in batting average.

Division V Honorable Mention

Isaac Sertell, West Liberty-Salem (Utility)

Sertell received Division V Honorable Mention recognition after excelling as both a hitter and pitcher.

He batted .390 with 32 hits, 29 runs, 10 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 10 RBIs and 26 stolen bases while posting a .527 on-base percentage.

On the mound, Sertell was a perfect 5-0 with a 1.400 ERA and 21 strikeouts over 20 innings.

He finished sixth in the Ohio Heritage Conference in runs scored, tied for seventh in hits and third in stolen bases.

Division VI First Team

Connor Eyink, Mechanicsburg (Catcher)

Eyink earned First Team All-Ohio honors after one of the state’s best two-way seasons.

The senior hit .492 with 30 hits, 33 runs, six doubles, one triple, four home runs, 33 RBIs and 18 stolen bases while posting a .594 on-base percentage.

As a pitcher, he went 9-1 with a 0.577 ERA and struck out 102 batters over 60.2 innings.

Eyink ranked ninth in Ohio in ERA and tied for fifth in strikeouts. He also led the Ohio Heritage Conference in ERA, strikeouts, batting average and RBIs while finishing second in home runs. His 33 RBIs tied for 16th in the state.

Division VI Second Team

Crew Lafary, Mechanicsburg (Shortstop)

Lafary was named to the Division VI Second Team after batting .434 with 36 hits, 39 runs, seven doubles, 16 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.

He also contributed on the mound, posting a 6-3 record with 46 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.

Lafary led the Ohio Heritage Conference in runs scored and tied for 10th in Ohio with 39 runs scored.

Softball

Division IV Second Team

Bailee Packer, Urbana (Catcher)

Urbana freshman Bailee Packer earned Division IV Second Team All-Ohio honors after producing one of the state’s most impressive offensive seasons.

Packer batted .516 with 49 hits, 36 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs and 70 RBIs while posting a .529 on-base percentage.

She finished fifth in the Central Buckeye Conference in batting average, fourth in home runs and first in RBIs. Her 70 RBIs tied for second in Ohio and ranked among the top 50 nationally.

The eight All-Ohio selections highlight another successful spring for local baseball and softball programs, with athletes from Urbana, West Liberty-Salem and Mechanicsburg earning recognition among Ohio’s top performers.
