Mechanicsburg continues hot start, wins boys’ golf tri-match at Woodland

Mechanicsburg captured the top spot in a boys golf tri-match Thursday at Woodland Golf Course, shooting a team score of 164 to finish ahead of West Liberty-Salem (194) and Triad (201). The nine-hole matchup between Mechanicsburg and West Liberty-Salem counted as an Ohio Heritage Conference contest.

West Liberty-Salem was led by Brayden Thompson, who posted a team-best 45. Calen Fairchild and Logan Behlmer each followed with 49s, while Braxton Catron added a 51. Owen Thornburg finished with a 55, and Eli Jackson rounded out the varsity scores with a 58.

The Tigers’ junior varsity squad was paced by Carter Henderson with a 55, followed by Cale Wygal with a 56 and Jackson Reinhardt and Gabe Myers each shooting 58.

Triad was led by Cohen Millice, who shared medalist honors with a 40. Carson Jackson recorded a personal-best 46, while Colton Mullin shot 57 and Hayden Sheppeard added a personal-best 58.

Mechanicsburg continues its hot start to the season with the tri-match victory, while West Liberty-Salem and Triad will look to bounce back when they return to action next week.
