Mechanicsburg 19, Trotwood-Madison 6 (5 innings)

Mechanicsburg kept the unbeaten train rolling in dominant fashion, rolling past Trotwood-Madison 19-6 in a run-rule win.

After Ethan Hodge struck out the side in the first, the Indians got to work offensively. Connor Eyink drove in the first run with a sac fly, and Bodee DeLong later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.

Then came the offensive explosion.

In the second, Mechanicsburg turned patience into production. After two early walks and two outs, the floodgates opened. DeLong sparked it with a single, then the Rams’ pitching unraveled. The Indians drew three straight walks—two with the bases loaded—and Shane Eckstein was hit by a pitch to force in another run. Avery Foss added an infield RBI single, another run scored on a wild pitch, and an error helped pile on.

The inning kept rolling with yet another wild pitch and a Crew Lafary single to reload the bases, setting up DeLong again—who came through with a two-RBI single to cap a massive inning and push the lead to 12-0.

Trotwood-Madison showed some life in the third, drawing four walks and adding a two-run single to make it 12-3, but Mechanicsburg answered right back. More walks, an Eckstein two-RBI single, and additional errors helped stretch the lead all the way to 19-3.

The Rams added three more in the fourth, but the damage was done.

Mechanicsburg scored 19 runs on just four hits, taking full advantage of free passes—eight runs came via bases-loaded walks or hit-by-pitches, with errors and fielder’s choices adding to the onslaught.

DeLong led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, and in a wild stat line, all 14 Indians who stepped to the plate reached base safely, with 12 of them scoring at least one run.

Mechanicsburg improves to 6-0 and will take on Northeastern on Monday.

Graham chipped away from there. Brody Jenkins launched a leadoff homer in the second and added an RBI double in the third to cut the deficit to 5-3.
