Benjamin Logan opened its boys soccer season in impressive fashion Friday night, defeating Calvary Christian 3-0 in the opening round of the Quest Cup.
The Raiders came out with strong pressure in the first half and took control of the match early, scoring all three of their goals before halftime.
Freshman Santiago Solano scored twice in his first varsity start, giving Benjamin Logan a 2-0 lead. Xavier Allen added the third goal before halftime.
Ben Solano and Luke Vesely each recorded an assist in the victory.
Benjamin Logan’s defense kept Calvary Christian off the scoreboard throughout the match. Senior goalkeeper Gavin Jordan made one save to record his first career shutout.
The Raiders finished with three shots on goal and converted on all three attempts.
In the other opening-round match, New Hope Christian Academy defeated Jackson Center 1-0.
The Quest Cup concludes Saturday. Jackson Center will face Calvary Christian at 5:30 p.m., while Benjamin Logan will take on New Hope Christian Academy in the championship game at 7:30 p.m.
