Local high school volleyball teams continued their postseason runs Thursday night, with Benjamin Logan and Urbana advancing in Division IV tournament play. West Jefferson also earned a five-set victory in Division VI, while Calvary Christian fell in Division VII.
Benjamin Logan 3, Meadowdale 0 – Division IV Sectional Final
The Benjamin Logan Lady Raiders captured the sectional championship Thursday night with a dominant three-set sweep over Meadowdale at Brookville High School.
Benjamin Logan controlled the match from start to finish, winning 25-1, 25-5, and 25-5 to advance in the postseason.
Summer Cline led the Raiders with nine kills and 15 service aces. Autumn Cline recorded 25 assists, while Georgia Daniels added eight kills. Abby Vance finished with five kills, Storm LeVan had three, and Avah Miller and Adabella Guider each contributed one kill.
Leah Dials recorded 10 service aces, Kaelin Gibson had three digs, and Brielle Kline and Lydia Johnson each posted a 3.0 passing rating.
The Lady Raiders will face the Oakwood Lumberjills in the Division IV district semifinals Tuesday, October 27, at 7 p.m. at Brookville High School.
Urbana 3, Valley View 1 – Division IV District Quarterfinal
The Urbana volleyball team advanced in the Division IV tournament with a four-set victory over Valley View.
Urbana won the match 25-22, 23-25, 25-9, and 25-11, bouncing back after dropping the second set to win the final two sets decisively.
The Hillclimbers will take on the Eaton Eagles in the Division IV district semifinals Wednesday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Xenia High School.
West Jefferson 3, Mechanicsburg 2 – Division VI District Quarterfinal
West Jefferson advanced in the Division VI tournament Thursday night with a hard-fought five-set victory over Mechanicsburg.
The Roughriders won 25-22, 26-28, 21-25, 29-27, and 15-12, rallying after dropping the second and third sets to win the final two and secure the match.
Middletown Christian 3, Calvary Christian 1 – Division VII District Quarterfinal
Calvary Christian’s postseason run ended with a four-set loss to Middletown Christian in Division VII district quarterfinal action.
Middletown Christian won the match 25-14, 22-25, 30-28, and 25-9.
Calvary Christian battled back to take the second set and pushed Middletown Christian to a close finish in the third before Middletown Christian secured the final set to advance.
