West Liberty-Salem volleyball opened its home schedule in impressive fashion Saturday, with the Tigers sweeping Ridgedale at the junior varsity and varsity levels.
The Tigers picked up wins at JVB, JVA and varsity, giving the program a clean sweep in its home opener.
Varsity
The West Liberty-Salem varsity Tigers swept Ridgedale in three sets, winning 25-15, 25-18 and 25-19.
The Tigers controlled the match throughout, using strong serving, solid defense and a balanced offensive attack to take care of business in three sets.
Reese Winters led the Tigers with 14 kills, three blocks, six digs, two aces and an assist.
Lilli Heminger added 11 kills, five blocks, two aces and a dig, while Sophia Landon directed the offense with 29 assists and contributed eight digs and a kill.
Kenna Wright anchored the defensive effort with 13 digs.
West Liberty-Salem’s varsity team will return to action Tuesday, August 25, at home against Triad. First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
JVA
The JVA Tigers also earned a 2-0 sweep of Ridgedale, winning 25-12 and 25-9.
Bella Johnson led the way with seven aces and 13 assists, along with four digs.
Sydney Conley recorded five aces, four kills and two digs, while Loretta Moxley added four kills.
Kenzie Underwood contributed three kills, one ace, one assist and two digs.
JVB
The JVB Tigers completed the sweep with a 2-0 victory over Ridgedale, winning 25-14 and 25-19.
Alissa Dixon led West Liberty-Salem with three aces, six digs, five kills and seven assists.
Amelia Miller added two aces, three kills and five assists, while Kayla Schwaderer finished with four aces and four kills.
West Liberty-Salem will look to carry the momentum from Saturday’s home opener into Tuesday’s matchup with Triad.
