Wical gets 100th hit in Chiefs wild comeback over the Falcons; full Thursday softball scoreboard

Bellefontaine 15, Graham 11

Bellefontaine stormed back in dramatic fashion, scoring 14 runs over the final two innings—including 10 in the seventh—to erase an eight-run deficit and defeat Graham 15-11.

Both teams traded runs in the first, as Joy Fogan blasted a solo home run for the Lady Chiefs while Mariah Sizemore scored on an RBI groundout from Lexi Baker for the Falcons.

Graham took control over the next three innings, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Abby Chamberlain in the second and a four-run third fueled by a string of hits, including a double from Malynn Bacher. The Falcons added two more runs in the fourth behind extra-base hits from Sophia Fraley and Chloe Owens to build a commanding 9-1 lead.

Bellefontaine began its comeback in the sixth, plating four runs to cut the deficit in half. The Lady Chiefs then erupted in the seventh, taking advantage of defensive miscues before Addison Wical delivered a bases-clearing double to make it 9-8. Paxton Stewart tied the game with an RBI single, and Alayna Boyd followed with a go-ahead two-run double. Bellefontaine added four more runs in the inning to cap the rally.

Graham managed two runs in the bottom half on a bases-clearing double from Baker, but the Falcons couldn’t complete a comeback of their own.

Wical led Bellefontaine with five RBIs while also recording the 100th hit of her high school career. Fogan, Wical, and Cameo Greene each had three hits as part of an 18-hit effort. Sizemore paced Graham, going 3-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Both teams move to 2-1 on the season. Bellefontaine travels to Wapakoneta on Friday, while Graham hosts Riverside on Monday, March 30.

West Liberty-Salem 10, Jackson Center 3

West Liberty-Salem earned its first win of the season behind a dominant pitching performance from Kiersten Stoll, who struck out 10 in a complete-game 10-3 victory over Jackson Center.

The Lady Tigers took advantage of early errors to score in each of the first two innings before breaking the game open with a four-run third. After loading the bases, Kaylee Blair reached on a misplayed ball that brought in two runs, and Ashlyn Yeater added an RBI groundout before Blair later scored on a wild pitch.

WL-S continued to build its lead in the fourth, as Olivia Reichardt tripled and scored on an RBI single from Rhyla Branham. Yeater later drove in two more runs with a single to center, extending the lead to 9-0.

Jackson Center managed three runs late, but Stoll remained in control throughout, allowing just two hits and five walks while striking out 10.

Yeater led the offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Blair scored four runs. WL-S improves to 1-1 and will travel to Fairbanks on Monday, March 30.

Southeastern 8, Benjamin Logan 1

Benjamin Logan was held to just four hits as Southeastern pitcher Reese Wells delivered a dominant complete-game performance in an 8-1 win over the Raiders.

Southeastern struck early with two runs in the first and continued to build the lead, highlighted by a two-run home run from Wells in the fourth inning.

The Raiders’ lone run came in the third when Kylie Harner singled to center, scoring Bonnie Brunson.

Wells finished with 14 strikeouts while allowing just one run on four hits and two walks.

Harner led Benjamin Logan at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Raiders fall to 1-1 and will face Celina in a Saturday doubleheader.

Fort Loramie 15, Riverside 5 (5 innings)

Riverside jumped out to an early lead, but Fort Loramie responded with a powerful offensive surge to claim a 15-5 run-rule victory in five innings.

The Lady Pirates scored four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Emilee Robinson. Additional runs crossed on defensive errors to give Riverside early momentum.

Fort Loramie answered quickly with back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the inning and took control in the second. The Lady Redskins continued to pile on runs, eventually ending the game early in the fifth inning.

Robinson’s homer led Riverside, which finished with five hits in the loss. The Lady Pirates fall to 2-3 and will travel to face Graham on Monday, March 30.
