The Hillclimbers struck first in the third, as Carter Houseman drove in a run before Ohio State commit Grady Lantz ripped a two-RBI knock to left to make it 3-0.

Indian Lake answered right back in the fourth. Cooper Hall and Chance Persinger reached to set the table, and Brady Golliday delivered with a two-RBI single before coming around to score on a wild pitch, tying things up at three.

Urbana regained the edge in the fifth, with Houseman getting aboard and Lantz staying hot with another RBI hit. Kevin Endres followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 5-3.

But the Lakers had the final say in the sixth. Jaxon Snipes led off with a single, and after two walks loaded the bases, Wickline came through in the clutch—lining a bases-clearing double to left on an 0-2 count to flip the game. He later scored on a Braden Tussing sac bunt to cap the rally at 7-5.

Golliday shut the door from there, tossing the final innings without allowing a threat. Wickline finished as the hero with three RBIs, while Golliday added a 2-for-4 day and closed it out on the mound. Lantz led Urbana, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Indian Lake moves to 3-4 and will face North Union Monday, while Urbana drops to 4-3 and heads to Miami East Saturday.

West Liberty-Salem 5, Madison Plains 4

West Liberty-Salem kept the good times rolling, extending its win streak to four with a gritty 5-4 win over Madison Plains.

Both teams traded runs in the first, with the Golden Eagles scoring on a passed ball and Braden Hershberger answering with a bases-loaded walk. WL-S broke the tie in the third when Reese Oder doubled and came around to score on an error, followed by an RBI single from Josiah Johnson to make it 3-1.

The Tigers added some breathing room in the fifth, capitalizing on a throwing error off the bat of Brandel Sullivan to plate two more runs.

Madison Plains didn’t go quietly, taking advantage of some Tiger control issues in the sixth. A walk-filled inning and a key single helped the Golden Eagles claw back to within one at 5-4. Jeremiah Johnson entered and stopped the bleeding with two big strikeouts.

That set up a tense seventh, but Johnson stayed composed—striking out the first batter and working around a single to slam the door and secure the win.

Oder and Dallas Koons each had two hits, with Oder scoring twice. Johnson also scored twice and played a key role on the mound late.

WL-S improves to 4-2 and will host Northwestern on Saturday.

Riverside 7, Troy Christian 4

Riverside continued to ride dominant pitching, taking down Troy Christian 7-4 behind a strong outing from Syler Clark.

Clark was electric early, firing five scoreless innings and finishing with 12 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. All four runs he allowed were unearned, as the Pirate defense had a few hiccups behind him.

Offensively, Riverside took advantage of opportunities right away. A dropped third strike turned into the game’s first run, and patient at-bats in the second led to bases-loaded walks and more runs. The Pirates kept applying pressure, adding runs on wild pitches and errors to build a 7-0 lead through five.

Troy Christian finally broke through late, scoring on an error and adding a couple runs in the seventh to chase Clark. Brody Orsborne came in to finish it off, ending the game with a caught stealing.

Orsborne also led the offense, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Clark, Colton Hurley, and David Gross each added hits, while Riverside drew eight walks as a team.

The Pirates improve to 7-1 and will travel to Lehman Catholic next.

Bellefontaine 9, Northwestern 1

Bellefontaine bounced back in a big way, using a massive second inning to power past Northwestern 9-1.

The Warriors struck first with an unearned run in the opening frame, but from there it was all Chieftains—especially on the mound. Sammy Kline settled in nicely, tossing five innings of one-hit ball while allowing just the lone unearned run.

The offense exploded in the second inning. Lincoln Banta and Cayleb Overmann set the table before Patrick Stolly ripped an RBI double. Hits from Kline and Nicholas Beair kept the line moving, and Zylar Huffman reached on a bunt that turned into two runs. Sutton Daring added an RBI groundout, and a passed ball capped the seven-run surge.

Bellefontaine added on from there, scoring on another defensive miscue in the third and getting an RBI double from Huffman in the fifth to round things out.

Beair closed things down in the final two innings without allowing a baserunner. Stolly led the offense at 2-for-2, while six other Chiefs recorded hits and five different players drove in runs.

Bellefontaine improves to 4-1 and will take on Greenon Saturday.

Benjamin Logan 8, London 2

Benjamin Logan broke things wide open in the second inning, erupting for seven runs on the way to an 8-2 win over London.

After a quiet first, the Raiders’ lineup flipped the switch in the second. Micah Gregg and Gavin Riedmiller reached to set the table before Carrick Spriggs drew a walk to load the bases. Jacob Hawley delivered first with a two-RBI single, followed by Oliver Morse driving in another to make it 3-0. Soli Hughes kept the line moving with a walk, and Xavier Allen dropped down a perfectly placed bunt single to plate another. Cayden Brown added a sac fly, and Adam Tinsman capped the inning with a two-RBI double, putting Benjamin Logan in full control at 7-0.

London answered with a two-out, two-run triple, but that would be all they could muster. Hughes added insurance in the fifth with a two-out RBI double to score Morse.

On the mound, Gregg was sharp despite the two unearned runs, scattering six hits and striking out eight over five innings. Tinsman closed it out in relief, allowing just one baserunner and striking out two.

Tinsman led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Morse and Riedmiller each had multi-hit games. Hawley also drove in a pair.

Benjamin Logan improves to 3-2 and heads to Kenton Ridge next.

Jonathan Alder 3, Graham 1

Graham battled in a low-scoring duel but couldn’t crack a dominant performance from Jonathan Alder, falling 3-1.

Pioneer starter Garrett Bauer was in command, striking out 10 over five shutout innings and keeping Falcon hitters off balance all night. Graham had chances early, including doubles from Jack Traylor and Brody Jenkins that put runners in scoring position, but couldn’t cash in.

Jonathan Alder struck first with a run in the second on a groundout and added another in the third with an RBI single. Graham threatened again in the fifth with the bases loaded but came up empty after a strikeout ended the inning.

The Falcons finally broke through in the sixth when Traylor reached and worked his way around to score on a passed ball, cutting it to 2-1. However, the Pioneers answered right back with a run of their own on a string of hits to make it 3-1.

Graham couldn’t mount a late rally, managing just a two-out single in the seventh. Jenkins and Traylor each collected two hits, while JP Morris went the distance on the mound, allowing three runs on eight hits.

Graham falls to 0-6 and will look to rebound against Bethel on Saturday.

Emmanuel Christian 10, Triad 0 (6 innings)

Emmanuel Christian’s bats were too much to handle, as the Lions rolled to a 10-0 run-rule win over Triad.

The Lions piled up 13 hits and took advantage of free passes, scoring early and often. They plated two runs in the first on RBI base hits, added three more in the third thanks to bases-loaded situations and control issues, and continued to build the lead with two runs in the fourth.

Emmanuel Christian put the finishing touches on in the sixth, using a two-run single and a pitching miscue to reach the 10-run mark.

Triad struggled to generate offense, managing just one hit on the day—a knock from Ty Botkins—and only three total baserunners.

Jack Walborn provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing 1.2 innings while allowing just two hits and striking out two.

Triad falls to 1-5 and will look to bounce back at home against Greeneview on Friday.
