Get ready for a day of fun at the 2024 Simon Kenton Chili Festival and Hoopla Parade, on Saturday in Urbana.
The festivities kick off at noon with the parade going down Main Street and around Monument Square. This year’s parade features the crazy antics of the beloved Antioch Shriners. Following the parade, attendees can enjoy a variety of food, vendors, music, and exciting contests.
One of the highlights is the 17th Annual Chili Cook-off, which begins serving at 2 PM. Everyone is welcome to test all 21 entries this year and have a say in the People’s Choice Award. Taste tests are free! The grand champion will receive a $1,000 prize.
This year’s festival honors Beth Adair, a dedicated volunteer and leader of the Chili Cook-Off for many years. Lois Monroe is also a member of the festival committee. She says there are many reasons to come enjoy the day in Urbana.
Join the community for a delicious and entertaining day; filled with chili and camaraderie!
Also, stop by and say hello to Ken Keller and our friends from 106.9 The Bull who will be there sharing in the excitement from 2 to 4 pm. The festivities end at 6 PM.
