Monday, Bellefontaine police and fire crews responded to two separate incidents, dealing with a carbon monoxide issue and a hazmat call within a short time frame.
Just after 6 p.m., emergency crews were called to H&R Block at 120 S. Main Street after high levels of carbon monoxide were detected inside the building.
Employees and customers were evacuated as a precaution.
Fire crews reported that a malfunctioning furnace was to blame.
No injuries were reported.
About 30 minutes later, crews were called to 1650 South Main Street after employees reported feeling sick after contact with an unknown substance.
Bellefontaine Fire Chief Brian Wilson said a pallet of bags containing a brown, powdery material was dropped off by a delivery company, even though the business had not ordered the product.
Two employees who handled the material began feeling sick and called 911.
The Logan County Hazardous Materials Team responded and determined the substance was not hazardous.
One person was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.
