What was once a historic downtown bank has been transformed into one of Urbana’s most striking new gathering spaces.

The Event Vault owners, Mark and Stephanie Peterson, recently welcomed guests inside their newly remodeled venue during a public open house, and in the following interview, the couple shares what it took to bring the building back to life and the types of events they’re most excited to host.

Housed within a meticulously restored 1920s bank on Monument Square, The Event Vault seamlessly marries Gilded Age grandeur with chic, modern luxury.

The main hall features stunning coffered ceilings and majestic columns, while the Art Deco-inspired bar offers a sophisticated nod to the building’s heritage.

From the cozy lounge and bright, glamorous preparation suites to the unmistakable charm of the original walk-in vault, every corner provides a unique backdrop for weddings, showers, and corporate galas.

With a capacity of up to 200 guests, the venue offers an unforgettable setting where historic character meets contemporary comfort.

The Event Vault is now open and accepting reservations, with bookings underway for 2026 and beyond.

In addition to private rentals, the Petersons plan to host community and ticketed events, including the upcoming Galentine’s Dinner & Karaoke Night, a 21-and-over evening featuring dinner, music, and group karaoke.

Mark and Stephanie Peterson are longtime downtown business owners who also operate the Scioto Inn and the Mustard Seed Boutique, continuing their commitment to investing in and growing downtown Urbana.
