A 17-year-old was taken into custody early Saturday morning following a 911 hang-up call, a foot chase, and a struggle with police at a Bellefontaine home.
Police say officers were called to a residence on Springhill Street just after 1:30 a.m. after a 911 call was disconnected and could not be reached again.
The call was traced to the home, where officers heard loud music upon arrival.
As officers tried to make contact at the front door, a male later identified as Ethan Whitt of Lakeview ran out a side door and fled north.
Officers chased him on foot and repeatedly ordered him to stop. Whitt eventually fell and was taken into custody.
Officers reported Whitt smelled of alcohol and initially refused to give his age or take a breath test.
Police later confirmed he was a minor and contacted his legal guardians, who said he was not supposed to be at the residence.
While being moved to another cruiser for transport to the Central Ohio Youth Center, police say Whitt resisted, refused to sit in the vehicle, and kicked and struck officers.
He continued to kick the cruiser doors after being secured.
Police report Whitt again resisted while officers attempted to fasten his seat belt, kicking and trying to headbutt them.
After repeated commands were ignored, officers used a Taser once to gain compliance.
Whitt later complained of needing medical attention and said he had a history of seizures.
Bellefontaine medics transported him to Mary Rutan Hospital for evaluation.
Officers said his guardians reported no known medical issues.
After being medically cleared, Whitt was taken to the Central Ohio Youth Center.
He is being held on charges of assault, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and underage consumption of alcohol.
