Summer winds down as local students prepare to return to class

Summer vacation is winding down, and students across the area are getting ready to head back to the classroom beginning next week.

Riverside Local Schools will be the first local district to return, with students heading back to class on Tuesday, August 18.

Indian Lake Schools will follow on Wednesday, August 19, with Mechanicsburg Local Schools returning Thursday, August 20.

Urbana City Schools will have a staggered start. Some students will return on August 19, others on August 20, with all students back in the classroom by Friday, August 21.

At Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, first-year students will return August 19, followed by returning students on August 20.

The following week, Triad Local Schools will return Tuesday, August 25, followed by Graham Local Schools on Wednesday, August 26.

Several area schools will wait until after Labor Day to begin the new school year.

Benjamin Logan Local Schools, Bellefontaine City Schools and West Liberty-Salem Local Schools will all welcome students back Tuesday, September 2.

Calvary Christian School will be the final school on the local schedule to return, with classes beginning Monday, September 8.

With the school year approaching, families are making final preparations and getting back into school-year routines.

Motorists are also reminded to watch for school buses, students walking or riding bikes, and increased traffic around schools as students return to class.
