Have you ever thought about the need for clothing at a hospital?
It’s something many don’t consider—until learning about the Angel Closet at Mary Rutan Hospital.
The Angel Closet provides essential clothing for patients who are in the Emergency Department without appropriate attire due to car accidents, sudden illness, homelessness, or situations where clothing must be kept as evidence.
This holiday season, the ONA MRH Nurses Union is hosting a clothing drive to help restock the Angel Closet, which is currently running low on adult-sized items.
The union is asking for donations of new sweatshirts, sweatpants, T-shirts, and athletic shorts.
Tara Davis, ER Nurse, has taken over the project with a group of other MRH employees.
She talks about the need:
Donation tags listing needed items are available on trees located in the hospital lobby, and donated clothing can be placed in nearby collection bins.
The clothing drive will continue through the end of December, giving community members plenty of time to help make a difference for patients in need, helping fill a need that many don’t consider.
