Urbana firefighters responded to a house fire Sunday evening in the 400 block of Lincoln Place after receiving a call just before 6 p.m.
When crews arrived a few minutes later, they found smoke in the neighborhood and discovered heavy flames coming from the home.
Firefighters quickly began working to put out the fire and had water on the flames shortly after arriving. Thanks to their fast response, the fire was brought under control without anyone getting hurt.
Officials say the fire was accidental, and a full damage assessment is still underway. The Red Cross was called to help the resident with temporary needs, such as clothing, shelter, or supplies.
The Urbana Fire Division was aided by West Liberty Fire, as they automatically responded to assist, along with AES, Columbia Gas, local law enforcement, and Dispatch offered additional support at the scene.
