A Logan County man has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison following convictions for multiple sex crimes involving a minor.

Paul M.D. Anderson, 34, of Bellefontaine, was convicted of two counts of rape, both first-degree felonies, and one count of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor or impaired person, a second-degree felony.

Judge Kevin P. Braig of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas imposed the sentence Friday, accepting a joint recommendation from Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart and Anderson’s defense attorney, Griff Nowicki.

The case traces back to July 9th, when Bellefontaine Police responded to a home on the 100 Block of Powers Street regarding a possible sexual offense.

Officers found Anderson being confronted by two men.

Investigators say one man accused Anderson of performing a sexual act with a child under 13 years old.

Anderson admitted that he had asked a female family member to perform a sexual act on him while playing Xbox and later acknowledged that similar incidents had occurred two to three times over the past four years.

Anderson was arrested at the scene and lodged in the Logan County Jail.

A report was submitted to Children’s Services and the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.

During the sentencing hearing, several family members of the victim spoke to the court, including letters and verbal statements from the victim, her sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother.

Anderson’s sister also addressed the court, and Anderson himself spoke, visibly trembling as he expressed remorse for his actions.

Four additional charges against Anderson were dismissed during the proceedings at the request of the prosecutor.
