The Bellefontaine Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 351 is hosting its annual pancake breakfast on the first full weekend of October, coinciding with the start of Fire Prevention Week. This community event will take place from 6 AM to 11 AM and operates on a donation-only basis—there is no set fee for breakfast.
All donations collected during the breakfast will directly benefit the union’s scholarship fund, which awards four $500 scholarships to Logan County seniors. Preference is given to students entering public safety, health, and medical fields. Scholarships are disbursed after the completion of the student’s first quarter or semester, provided they maintain a minimum “C” average and submit verification, such as transcripts or grades.
Applications for the scholarship can be found at local schools, making it accessible for all interested students.
In 2023, the scholarships were awarded to:
- Kendra Kennedy
- Marah Hurley
- Timothy Taylor
Notably, both Kendra and Marah are children of firefighters. The scholarship fund was originally established in the 1980s exclusively for the children of firefighters but has since expanded to include all Logan County students.
Join us for a hearty breakfast while supporting local students and honoring our firefighters!
