Law enforcement agencies from across the area are stepping in to support the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office after the unexpected passing of Detective Bryan Bodine earlier this week.
Detective Bodine, a 12-year veteran of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, died on Tuesday.
Throughout his service, he held several roles, including deputy, K-9 handler, and most recently, detective.
Departments from neighboring counties—Allen, Auglaize, Logan, and Union—have volunteered to cover patrol shifts in Hardin County over the next several days.
The Bellefontaine Police Department has also chipped in.
Their support allows deputies to have time and space to grieve the loss of their colleague.
Sheriff Keith Everhart expressed appreciation to those assisting during this time.
“Special appreciation is extended to Logan County Sheriff Randall Dodds and his staff for their assistance, as well as to numerous other law enforcement and first responder agencies who have assisted and offered their support,” Everhart said in a statement.
Sheriff Dodds also shared his thoughts about the importance of standing beside fellow officers during difficult times:
“Different Badges- One Family!” the Logan County Sheriff’s Office shared on social media. “LCSO stands with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office as we mourn the loss of Detective Bryan Bodine.”
Funeral arrangements for Detective Bodine have not yet been announced.
