For the second year in a row, Ava Astorino had the top-selling hog at the Champaign County Fair Swine Sale.
Astorino’s pig brought $4,325, the highest sale price among all exhibitors this year. Her back-to-back top sale honors highlight another strong year for Astorino in the swine barn and make her one of the fair’s standout exhibitors.
The Champaign County Fair Swine Sale featured strong results from 4-H and FFA exhibitors, with several young livestock exhibitors earning championship honors and bringing strong prices for their animals.
Levi Yelton was named Champion Overall Market Barrow and Champion 4-H Barrow, along with a Division Championship. Yelton’s barrow sold for $950.
Ayla Lensman was Champion Overall Market Gilt, Reserve Champion Overall Market Gilt and Champion 4-H Gilt. She also earned Champion Born and Raised Gilt, Champion Purebred Gilt and a Division Championship. Her gilt sold for $1,300.
Kole Bishop was Reserve Champion Overall Market Barrow and Reserve Champion 4-H Barrow. Bishop also earned Reserve Champion Born and Raised Gilt and a Division Championship. His animal sold for $1,300.
Dezmond Taylor was Champion FFA Barrow and Reserve Champion FFA Barrow, along with a Division Championship. Taylor’s animal sold for $600.
Madison Ripley was Champion FFA Gilt and Reserve Champion FFA Gilt, along with a Division Championship. Her gilt sold for $400.
Ethan Hodge was Champion Born and Raised Barrow, Showman of Showmen, Champion Purebred Barrow and Rookie Skillathon Division Champion. Hodge’s animal sold for $775.
Claire Lensman was Reserve Champion Born and Raised Barrow, FFA Senior Showman, Reserve Champion Purebred Barrow and Division Champion. Her animal sold for $1,300.
Brookston Gentis was Champion Performance and finished fifth in Performance, while also earning a Reserve Division Championship. Gentis’ animal sold for $1,000.
Mason Bandy was Reserve Champion Performance and placed third in Performance. His animal sold for $400.
Hadassah Stidham was Champion Scramble and Division Champion, with her animal selling for $1,175.
Hannah Volp was Reserve Champion Scramble and Reserve Division Champion. Her animal sold for $550.
Kase McIntosh was Champion Lean Gain Performance and placed fourth in Performance. McIntosh’s animal sold for $750.
Haley Alty was Reserve Champion Lean Gain Performance and was named Pork Queen. Her animal sold for $550.
Hayden Kline was named Pork Princess, with her animal selling for $550.
