Authorities recover $48K in stolen property; Suspect in custody

Detectives with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Bellefontaine man after an investigation into a string of break-ins and felony thefts reported late last month.

The reported crimes occurred around June 27th.

Through a follow-up investigation, deputies identified 43-year-old Chad Knueve as the primary suspect.

As a result of the investigation, authorities recovered several stolen items, including:

  • A 2022 Mahindra riding tractor valued at $40,000
  • A 2009 Bobcat Fast Trac zero-turn mower valued at $5,400
  • A large wooden swing set with an attached slide worth approximately $2,600

All of the recovered property has since been returned to its rightful owners.

Knueve was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon and is currently being held at the Logan County Jail.

He faces multiple charges, including breaking and entering, grand theft, tampering with evidence, and criminal trespassing.

The investigation is ongoing.
