B-Town Bots Compete at Ohio State VEX Competition

On Friday, Bellefontaine Middle School teams 7865 E- Slurp-Ez and 7865 C- Microsoft had a good day of competition.

This event hosted the top 60 teams from around the state.

Slurp- Ez qualified for the elimination tournament; unfortunately their alliance lost in the first round ending their competition day.

At the end of the competition, 7865 E- Slurp-Ez earned the THINK Award, a judged award for clean, consistent, and reliable programming.

The THINK Award, is a qualifying award, earning them a spot to the World VEX competition in Dallas, TX in April.

Slurp-Ez is the first Middle School Team to qualify from Bellefontaine, a major accomplishment.

Slurp-Ez is composed of team members:

  • Brody Miranda
  • Cody Robb

Microsoft is made up of team members:

  • Will Gates
  • Graham Trittschuh
  • Charlie Moreland

 

On Saturday, the High School teams of 9185 A- F.O.A.M. and 9185 B- BIOHAZARD competed against the top 84 HS teams in the state.

Both teams had a good showing in skills and qualification matches.

9185 A- F.O.A.M. earned a spot in the elimination tournament.

Their alliance won their first match but lost in the second round.

During the Awards program, 9185 A- F.O.A.M. earned the DESIGN award, the second-highest award presented to any team in the State.

This prestigious award qualifies F.O.A.M. to the World VEX Competition in April.

BHS robotics are coached by Micah Woolf and Dustin VanBuskirk.

BMS robotics are coached by Sandi Chervenak and Jordan Reser.
