Barhorst, Knight named Riverside Seniors of the Month

Riverside recently announced their Seniors of the Month.

Name: Skylar Barhorst

Parents: Trina Jackson and Kirk Barhorst

School activities & awards: Interact Club, Yearbook Club, Debate Club, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Football Cheer, Basketball Cheer, Academic Achievement Breakfast, BPA Competition Awards, Executive through Ambassador Torch Awards.

If I were principal for a day: I would take the high school students to Cedar Point for the day.

Favorite school memory: My favorite school memory is celebrating Cinco De Mayo in Spanish class.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My mom and my older brother have been inspirations to me.

Lately, I have been reading: Nineteen by Makenzie Campbell.

My advice to parents: Encourage your kid to discover what they like to do and be there if they need you.

My biggest regret: I regret not spending more time with my friends.

Most embarrassing moment: I’ve confidently said the wrong answer in class.

Next year I will be: Attending college for a degree in Social Services.

Name: Tyler Knight

Parents: Nathan & Kristin Knight

School activities & awards: I am involved in BPA, football, track, baseball, and bowling. I won a state championship in bowling. Three-time national qualifier for BPA. MVP for track.

If I were principal for a day: I would have a day for creativity. To let students use their own original thoughts for any project that they would want to do.

Favorite school memory: My bowling season in my junior and senior years.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: Dr. Mann, Mr. Hodge, Coach Red, Mr. McGill, my family, Mrs. Kauffman, and my grandpa.

My advice to parents: Let your kids live their lives, and don’t try to relive your lives through them.

My biggest regret: Waiting to transfer to Riverside until high school.

Most embarrassing moment: Losing a bowling competition at the pep rally.

Next year I will be: Attending Rio Grande University and bowling for them.
