The Bellefontaine Board of Education heard about a proposed student trip during their monthly meeting Monday night in the Sloan Distance Learning Center.
Bellefontaine Middle School Assistant Principal Matt Comstock detailed the annual 8th-grade trip to Washington, DC. Students, along with chaperones, will visit the nation’s capital next spring.
Students will get to see the U.S. Capitol, Arlington National Cemetery, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Ford’s Theatre, National Zoo, Smithsonian, and more. They’ll also stop in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
The four-day trip will cost $956 per student. Student Adventures is the tour agency.
The trip is from May 21st to 24th. BMS will host an informational meeting on the trip on September 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Booster Bar sales will help fund the trip.
Students will start selling the candy bars on September 17th.
Comstock said, “It’s a valuable learning experience for our students to see our nation’s capital and the many historical attractions.”
The board will vote on the trip at its next meeting.
The board then approved several items on the agenda, including the monthly financial reports and a resolution accepting the tax rate certification of the Logan County Budget Commission.
