BCS Athletic Director Jason Calton recapped a very successful fall sports season. Cross-country standouts Hayden Maus and Grace Brown were honored as well. Maus finished 15th at the Division II boys state meet last month at 15 minutes and 42 seconds. Brown placed 6th at the Division II girls state meet at 18:24. Maus (junior) and Brown (sophomore) were also named the CBC Kenton Trail Division Runner of the Year. Both runners were joined by their coaches and family Monday night.
Calton then praised the Lady Chiefs volleyball team, which posted its best season in 20 years. The girls finished 17-7. Kelsie Snapp, Taylor Banta, Madi Zedeker, and Ava Reeves earned all-league honors. The Chiefs enjoyed a record-setting season on the gridiron. Senior quarterback Tavien St. Clair finished his career with 9,794 passing yards and 104 touchdown passes. St. Clair signed with Ohio State last Wednesday. Senior wide receiver Braylon Newcomb led the CBC with 77 catches for 1,195 yards, and 17 touchdown receptions. In August, Newcomb broke the school record for receiving yards in a game (235) at Sidney. Newcomb signed his letter of intent with Eastern Kentucky University last week. Finally, Calton said tailgating at home varsity football games was a big hit this fall.
