Bellefontaine High School recently named its Seniors of the Month, Isabel Beck and Jacob Henry.

Isabel Beck is the daughter of Joe and Madde Beck of Bellefontaine.

Future plans: Attend college and earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

School activities and awards: Girls Varsity Soccer, DECA, National Honor Society, Interact Club, and Potter of the Week (Ceramics Class).

If I were principal for a day: I would implement a designated no homework night once a month. This would encourage kids to spend time with people at home.

Favorite school memory: Going to the DECA competitions with my partner, Sloan Stolly, and other classmates. DECA has taught me many things about business, and I’m super excited to be pursuing a career in marketing to apply things I’ve learned during my time in DECA.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My mother and father for teaching me about hard work and the multiple possibilities this life has for me. My brother for showing me the importance of independence and finding my own way in life.

Lately I’ve been reading: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

My advice to parents: Although Bellefontaine is a great town to grow up in, parents need to expose their kids to new places and new things. Traveling can be a great way to show your kids that their abilities and goals can be limitless. Parents should be encouraging their kids to do more than just sports. Get involved in more clubs and find new hobbies that interest them.

My biggest regret: Not realizing the impact I could have had on the school and community sooner. Getting more involved in clubs was the start of this for me. Helping the less fortunate and giving back to the community was all a part of it.

Where I see myself in 5 years: I will have graduated from a university and started my career at some company working in the marketing department. I will travel the world and see as many places and cultures as possible.

Jacob Henry is the son of Luther Henry and Katie Fogarty of Bellefontaine.

Future plans: Attend college and study pre-med.

School activities and awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, AP Capstone candidate, DARE, Interact Club, and Potter of the Week (Ceramics Class).

If I were principal for a day: I would start school two hours later and let kids use their backpacks and headphones.

Favorite school memory: Track team winning the Circleville Relays my sophomore year.

People who have been an inspiration to me: My mom.

Lately I’ve been reading: Campbell Biology textbook.

My advice to parents: Let your kids know they can do anything so they don’t have to settle for something they don’t want to do.

My biggest regret: Not volunteering at all my freshman year.

Where I see myself in 5 years: Entering med school to become a surgeon.
