A new youth initiative called Before the Badge, designed for students in grades 4 through 6, is coming to Logan County.
The program, a collaboration between a retired local pastor and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), hopes to build positive connections between youth and law enforcement.
Pastor Gary Brown and Sheriff Randy Dodds are set to launch Before the Badge in Logan County schools during the 2025–26 academic year.
The program will focus on early engagement with students to promote responsible decision-making, increase awareness of authority roles, and encourage strong character development.
Listen in to Listen Up! with News Director April King as she gets the details from Pastor brown and Sheriff Dodds:
Developed over several months, the curriculum is being shaped through input from a wide range of local professionals, including sheriff’s deputies, dispatchers, pastors, educators, and school administrators.
School Resource Officers from the LCSO will be actively involved, and the sheriff’s office will also provide prizes and logistical support.
