Tuesday night marked the final session of the Behind the Badge Citizens Sheriff’s Academy at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, where participants gained crucial knowledge about the role of school resource officers (SROs) and their significance in local school districts.

SROs are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work in schools. They play a vital role in ensuring safety, mentoring students, and fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. Their responsibilities include responding to incidents, educating students about the law, and serving as a resource for both school staff and students.

The session also provided an opportunity for attendees to connect with Dog Warden Jake Boyd. During the event, Deputy Boyd shared exciting updates about upcoming developments in his work, emphasizing the evolving nature of his responsibilities.

The Behind the Badge program aims to foster better relationships between law enforcement and the community while providing valuable insights into the various roles within the sheriff’s office.

The group will graduate from the Academy next Thursday, October 24th.
