The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to Walnut Street in Belle Center Tuesday afternoon for a report of a suspicious person.
Deputies were told a man was sitting on the front porch of a house that was not his.
Upon arrival, Donald Jones II stood up and said he was sorry. Jones told the deputy he lives down the street. When asked why he was sitting on the porch, Jones stated he was on a walk with his wife and child and he needed to stop to take a break. He thought they went to the park or back to their house.
Jones was holding a white paper bag containing a pocketbook and an orange case.
He told the deputy the pocketbook was his wife’s and the case was his wallet.
Upon opening the orange case, the deputy saw a clear baggie with a white powdery substance along with some crystal-like substances. A digital scale and two pieces of tin foil with burnt residue were also inside the case.
Jones then denied the case belonging to him.
He was placed under arrest.
During a search of Jones, he had multiple unused pieces of tin foil in his shorts pocket.
Jones was transported to the Logan County Jail.
At the jail, deputies continued their search of the orange case and found a used Keno ticket. Inside the ticket was a fine white powdery substance.
Both substances found inside the case were tested and came back positive for methamphetamine. The combined substance weight was 4.1 grams.
Jones was charged with possession of methamphetamine and lodged in the jail.
