The Logan County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of State Route 638 and County Road 101 regarding several complaints of a suspicious male walking along the intersection Thursday morning around 9.

The male was located on State Route 638 north of County Road 51.

He stated he had been walking for a while and was walking back towards his house. He said that he and his girlfriend, Jessie Stevens, 38, had gotten into an argument and he left.

The male appeared to be in medical distress due to having asthma. He stated he needed his inhaler.

Authorities transported him back to his residence on County Road 106.

As authorities knocked on the door at the residence, a car door opened and Stevens was getting out of her Chevy Tahoe in the driveway.

Stevens stumbled out of the vehicle holding a bowl of cereal, with milk, which spilled on her lap, and her speech was heavily slurred.

She explained that she and the male had gotten into an argument, and she was getting ready to leave to get him but her vehicle wouldn’t start.

Deputies observed a dried white powder underneath her right nostril on top of her upper lip. She retrieved her boyfriend’s inhaler. When asked, she said she hasn’t been drinking or doing any drugs.

She performed field sobriety tests and failed.

Stevens was placed under arrest.

Deputies spoke with a neighbor who had witnessed the interactions. They called Ms. Steven’s father, who is the homeowner. The father said that his daughter’s boyfriend is not welcome on the property and he needed to gather his belongings and leave.

Stevens admitted that he “wasn’t probably supposed to be at the house.”

Stevens was transported to the Logan County Jail and arrested for OVI.

At the jail, she stated that she snorted her Neurontin (Gabapentin) because “it works better for her that way.” She said that she had a prescription for it.

Through a search, no prescriptions were found for Stevens’ Neurontin within the last three years.

This report will be sent to the Bellefontaine Municipal Court and the Bellefontaine City Prosecutor for their review.
