Just before 8 p.m. Saturday, Bellefontaine Police responded to a crash on South Elm Street after a driver was reported slumped over the wheel of a silver Ford Focus.

Officers arrived to find the driver, later identified as 29-year-old Lillian Tackett of Bellefontaine, speaking with medics and appearing heavily intoxicated.

Tackett was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for possible injuries sustained in the crash.

At the hospital, Tackett agreed to perform field sobriety tests and failed.

Investigators say she had been traveling south on South Elm Street when she ran off the right side of the road, striking a concrete block.

She then continued driving through a yard for approximately 100 yards before her car shut off.

Tackett was issued a citation for failure to control her vehicle.

An alcohol test was administered at the hospital, and results are pending.

She was released into the custody of hospital staff for medical care.

Just before midnight, hospital staff contacted police when Tackett left the hospital without permission.

Officers located her shortly after walking on North Park Street, still visibly intoxicated.

She was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Logan County Jail.

Tackett was arraigned Wednesday morning at Bellefontaine Municipal Court and is scheduled to appear again for sentencing in February.
