The Bellefontaine Exchange Club has officially launched its 62nd Annual Safety Town, with Officer Isaac Chiles, Officer Doug Walters, and Officer John Godwin leading the program.
Safety Town is designed for children entering kindergarten in the upcoming school year and offers a fun, educational introduction to important safety topics.
There are still spots available for children who want to join in the coming weeks.
Safety Town is held at the Mac-A-Cheek Learning Center (formerly Western Intermediate School) located at 1130 West Sandusky Avenue.
Parents and children should enter through the rear (north) doors.
This free program covers a variety of safety lessons, including pedestrian safety, traffic signals and signs, fire safety, understanding good and bad touch, stranger danger, and drug awareness.
Instruction methods include films, lectures, coloring activities, and hands-on learning to emphasize vehicle and bus safety.
Officer Walters talks about why he loves this program:
Classes are held Monday through Friday, with no session on June 19th in observance of a federal holiday.
Sessions last about two hours and are available at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day.
Parents are welcome to attend with their children and should notify the instructor at check-in if they plan to join.
