What started on April 19th of 1998 will conclude on July 31st.

Twenty-six years later Bellefontaine Fire Chief Andy Fissel is set to retire.

“The winds of change,” Fissel said is one of the reasons he is choosing to retire, adding, “I just knew it was my time.”

In January 2014, Fissel took the helm as Chief and has always served the city of Bellefontaine.

Fissel also served as Assistant Chief and firefighter/paramedic during his tenure.

Fissel looks back at his career:

Fissel plans to work on home projects in his retirement and help educate his daughter, who is homeschooled.

Captain Brian Wilson will serve as the Interim Fire Chief.
