Bellefontaine Fire & EMS is Logan County’s designated site for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes (OBB) program, a child passenger safety initiative from the Ohio Department of Health.

The program began locally in May 2024 and is ongoing.

As the only OBB site in the county, Bellefontaine Fire & EMS receives a set number of free car seats each quarter.

Distribution is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

To qualify, caregivers must be enrolled in the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program.

WIC eligibility is confirmed at the time of the appointment.

For those not currently receiving WIC benefits, referrals can be made through the department to help families apply.

The program is coordinated by Firefighter/Paramedic Hodge Hager, who is Logan County’s only certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

He is trained to install car seats, perform safety inspections, check for recalls or expiration dates, and ensure proper use.

Bellefontaine Fire & EMS also provides Child ID Stickers, which can be placed on car seats to list the child’s name, medical information, and caregiver contacts.

These stickers help first responders quickly access critical information in an emergency.

Stickers are available anytime without an appointment.

To schedule a car seat appointment, request an installation check, or pick up a Child ID Sticker, call (937) 599-6168.
