Bellefontaine City Council opened the new year by welcoming new council members and outlining priorities and ongoing projects during its latest meeting.

Both leaders stressed an open-door policy, encouraging communication and collaboration as the council moves forward in 2026.
Council announced a special meeting scheduled one hour prior to the next regular council meeting to discuss the Ohio Plan, the static plan for the city.
That meeting will take place on January 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
Service Safety Director Wes Dodds talks about the plan:
During departmental updates, council received a positive report on parks projects, noting that good work continues across the city.
Harmon Field remains on track, with progress continuing as planned.
From the engineering department, council was updated on a proposed annexation along State Route 179.
The request involves two acres proposed for R-1 single-family residential zoning.

One ordinance was heard at the meeting, an ordinance making supplemental appropriations and amending the Permanent Appropriations Ordinance for purposes of South TIF, Wastewater, and Refuse, and declaring an emergency.
The council will meet again in two weeks on January 27th at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers.
