Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of West Patterson Avenue in reference to a physical domestic dispute between a male and the victim Thursday afternoon around 3:30.

Dispatch advised that the female was assaulted and Jereme Wiertel, 38, had left in his vehicle.

Upon arrival, the victim was upset and reported they are in a relationship, live together, and have a child together. The female said that some items stacked up inside the house had fallen over and then an argument ensued.

She reported that Wiertel had grabbed her arm and pinched her in an attempt to move her out of the way. The female followed him out to his vehicle to speak with him. She got into the passenger seat and claimed Wiertel had thrown a boot at her, hitting her in the face. The female had visible redness on her face and had beginning stages of blue and green bruising on her inner arm.

She wanted to pursue criminal charges against Wiertel. It was learned by officers that Wiertel did not have a valid driver’s license and it was suspended. When Wiertel returned, he exited the vehicle and said “might as well get this over with.”

He was placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence.

Wiertel claimed he was being held hostage inside the house, and the female would not let him leave and denied throwing his boot at the victim.

Nothing illegal was located inside the vehicle.

Wiertel was transported to the Logan County Jail.

He was lodged on one count of domestic violence and non-compliance.
