Bellefontaine City Police were called to Heritage Court Apartments Saturday for a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers heard the suspect, 27-year-old John Messer, Jr, of Bellefontaine, yelling inside the home. Officers knocked on the door and Messer answered.

Police informed him that they had received reports of a disturbance. He responded by stating that the neighbors must have called them. He then told the officers they were not welcome in his home and tried to shut the door.

Officers ordered Messer to return to them and he continued to walk away. They forced the door open and took Messer into custody.

He explained that there was no physical violence taking place. He said he and his girl, Aubrey Ray, 30, of Bellefontaine, were arguing over him purchasing a pistol. Ray verified this in a separate interview.

Messer was charged with obstructing an investigation and resisting arrest. He was lodged in Logan County Jail.
