Donald Everhardt, 25, was charged with two counts of OVI, no taillights, improper turns at intersections, and driving in marked lanes Thursday morning around 2:30.

Deputies from the Bellefontaine Police Department saw a vehicle traveling without headlights or taillights on West Columbus Avenue near South Detroit Street. Everhardt made a wide left turn and traveled over the double-yellow center line. Officials initiated a traffic stop.

Everhardt admitted that he forgot to turn his headlights on.

Officials could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and his eyes appeared bloodshot and glossy, among other signs of being under the influence.

He admitted to drinking 4 to 5 beers and 2 or 3 shots.

Everhardt agreed to perform field sobriety tests and failed. He stated that he had his last drink approximately 30 minutes prior to the traffic stop.

Everhardt was placed under arrest for OVI and was transported to the police department.

He consented to a breath test which yielded a BAC of 0.199.

He was issued the above-listed citations and released to a sober driver.
