Officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of East Chillicothe Avenue in reference to a trespass complaint early Monday morning.

While en route, officers saw a man on Eastern Avenue standing in the roadway.

The man walked onto the front porch of a home in the 500 block of Eastern Avenue and sat down in a chair.

Jakob Yule said he was at the residence trying to get in touch with his driving instructor.

After speaking with Yule for a few minutes, officers determined he was intoxicated and from prior experience knew that he suffered from mental health issues.

Police asked him multiple times to step down off the front porch. He ignored the request and continued to talk, saying he was “on alcohol and weed”.

When officers attempted to place Yule in handcuffs, he began knocking on the front door of the home.

He was then detained. Officers could smell the odor of alcohol on his breath.

Yule was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Logan County Jail.

At the jail, corrections staff located a small bag of marijuana inside a cigarette pack on him.
