A 41-year-old Bellefontaine man was arrested Saturday night after officers observed multiple traffic violations and signs of impairment, according to police reports.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, around 11:30 PM, officers noticed a silver Honda Accord without a front bumper stopped at a stop sign on High Street.

The vehicle failed to use turn signals on multiple turns and crossed marked lines at intersections.

Police stopped the Honda in the parking lot behind the Bellefontaine Police Department.

The driver was identified as Eric Smith.

Officers say that Smith showed several signs of intoxication as they spoke with him.

Smith admitted to smoking three bowls of marijuana within two hours before driving.

He then went on to fail several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI).

At the police department, Smith voluntarily provided breath and urine samples.

He was issued a citation, given a mandatory court date, nd then released to a sober driver.
