According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, a domestic dispute led to the arrest of a local woman on Saturday.

Officers were called just after 5:00 PM to a home on the 100 block of South Springhill Street after a caller reported a fight between two women near a dark blue van.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim, who had injuries consistent with being attacked.

Paige Alferez, 27, of Dayton, was identified by witnesses and taken into custody at the scene.

Officers reported that both women had been drinking alcoholic beverages before the altercation and that the incident involved mutual physical contact.

Witnesses confirmed that Alferez choked the victim during the fight, which lasted approximately 30 seconds, before being separated by bystanders.

Alferez was transported to the Logan County Jail and lodged on charges of domestic violence.

In a separate incident, police arrested 33-year-old Traquan Powell after he allegedly threatened a woman and her partner over child support paperwork.

According to the police report, the female victim told officers Powell had been sending threatening messages and making calls since receiving the paperwork last week.

During an officer-monitored phone call, Powell reportedly threatened the woman.

The victims also said Powell threatened to “shoot up” their home.

Officers found Powell at a home on Newell Street and took him into custody without incident.

He was charged with aggravated menacing and domestic violence and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
