For more than 25 years, the Bellefontaine Police Department has been hosting its popular D.A.R.E. Day Camps at YMCA Camp Willson.
This year, two sessions are scheduled: July 14–18 and July 21–25, running daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The program is open to students entering 5th grade next school year.
Each student may attend only one week, with 10 campers accepted per session.
Led by Officer Doug Walters and Officer Isaac Chiles, the D.A.R.E. Camps provide a fun, supportive environment where students can learn important life skills.
Officer Walters talks about camp:
Topics covered include relationship building, decision making, personal growth, responsibility, and drug and alcohol abuse prevention.
Campers will enjoy a full range of outdoor activities at Camp Willson, including swimming, fishing, boating, archery, climbing wall challenges, and team-building competitions.
Lunch is provided each day, however, parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up campers.
Students must bring a water bottle, swimsuit, and towel daily, and wear closed-toe shoes — no sandals or flip-flops.
Space is limited, and registration must be completed in person at the Bellefontaine Police Department.
