The Bellefontaine Police Department is now accepting applications for Class 14 of its Citizens’ Police Academy.

The program will run from Thursday, February 19, 2026, through April 30, 2026, with classes held Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. in the BPD Training Room at 135 N. Detroit Street.

Dinner will be provided before each class.

The Citizens’ Police Academy is designed to give residents an inside look at how their police department operates, strengthen communication and trust, and build stronger community relationships.

Participants will learn directly from officers and staff about daily police operations, gaining a practical perspective on policing in today’s world.

Course topics may include tours of the police station and 9-1-1 center, K-9 demonstrations, patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, crime scene investigation, community outreach programs, court procedures, special response team operations, drone use, firearms safety, and crime prevention strategies.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either live in Logan County or be affiliated with a Bellefontaine business or organization, with priority given to local residents.

Participants must pass a criminal history check; felony convictions and certain misdemeanors may disqualify applicants.

Casual dress is encouraged, and participants are expected to engage with instructors and provide feedback.

Applications can be picked up at the Bellefontaine Police Department.
