Two robotics teams from Bellefontaine Middle School delivered strong performances at the Ohio State VEX Championship, with one team securing a coveted spot at the VEX Robotics World Championship later this spring.
Team 9185S – Scrambled Eggz finished the qualification rounds with an impressive 7–1 record, placing fourth overall in a highly competitive field.
Their strong performance earned them a place in the elimination bracket; after a first-round win, their tournament run ended in the quarterfinals after a hard-fought match.
Meanwhile, Team 9185B – Banana Boys also advanced to the elimination rounds, finishing 11th overall before also falling in the quarterfinals.
Despite the early exit from the playoff bracket, the Banana Boys left the competition with one of the event’s most prestigious honors.
The team received the Build Award, which recognizes robots with a robust and well-constructed design that demonstrates attention to detail and engineering excellence.
The award carried an even bigger reward: qualification for the VEX Robotics World Championship, scheduled for April 25–27 in St. Louis, Missouri.
The world championship will bring together top teams from around the globe to compete and showcase their engineering, programming, and teamwork skills.
Both Bellefontaine teams demonstrated strong design and driving abilities throughout the state championship, highlighting the continued growth of the school’s robotics program.
With the Banana Boys now preparing for the world stage, Bellefontaine Middle School will soon have a chance to represent Ohio in one of the largest robotics competitions in the world.
