The Bellefontaine Rotary Club ushered in a new leadership team Monday afternoon during its annual “Changing of the Guard” ceremony.

Ted Dennis was sworn in as the club’s newest President.

Nita Wilkinson was named President Elect, while Bill Boy will continue his service as treasurer, and Tammy Gump remains as secretary.

The club also welcomed new board members Sally Stolly and Brent Swartz.

Dennis said during a speech to the club:

“I’m grateful for Rotary, we must remember that our purpose is bigger than ourselves, that the saying that we hear a lot “Service Above Self,” really has some meaning. So this coming year is going to be filled with some opportunities. It’s going to present you with some responsibilities. I see it as a chance for me to grow personally. We have the means to do a lot of good this year. I look forward to working with you on that. So thanks for giving me the opportunity to be President this coming year and I look forward to seeing what we can do better!”

Rotary International is a global service organization that brings together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace around the world.

The Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” guides its members in supporting local and global communities through volunteerism and charitable projects.

Locally, the Bellefontaine Rotary Club supports youth programs, scholarships, literacy initiatives, and various community improvement efforts.

The club’s newest fundraiser is coming this August, a Root Beer Stand, and the return of the Watershed in Lakeview is also set for August.
