Bellefontaine City Schools will once again send students home early Friday as extreme heat continues across the area.
The district will dismiss students two hours early on September 4, marking the third straight day of early dismissal due to safety concerns related to the excessive temperatures.
School officials say the decision is intended to protect both students and staff as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels.
After-school activities will operate under modified Ohio High School Athletic Association guidelines.
Depending on conditions, those modifications may include more frequent water and rest breaks, reduced activity levels, equipment changes, and adjustments to practice schedules.
Coaches and activity leaders will monitor the heat and make changes as necessary to help prevent heat-related illness.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to plan ahead for the early dismissal and make arrangements for students following their earlier release from school.
