Bellefontaine Police made a traffic stop early Wednesday morning after a vehicle was seen driving through a stop sign on Kent Drive.

At 2 AM Wednesday, 21-year-old Jorrell Johnson of DeGraff and a 14-year-old passenger were pulled over for the violation.

As police approached the vehicle, the passenger was seen shoving items into his pockets.

As police questioned Johnson about the traffic violation, the passenger remained distracted with his pockets and the items inside.

Throughout the investigation, he continued to say it was his speaker that he put in his pocket, and he was looking for his phone.

The officer removed both suspects from the vehicle and searched for weapons and contraband.

Police found two small scales and a pill bottle in the passenger’s pockets. Inside the pill bottle were two small bags with white powder residue inside.

The powder tested positive for cocaine.

The passenger insisted the items were given to him by Johnson, who denied the accusations.

Both Johnson and the passenger are currently on parole, and Johnson’s parole officer was notified.

The passenger was taken into custody and transported to the Central Ohio Youth Center.

He is charged with possession of schedule III, IV, or V substances, Possession of Cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson was released pending further investigation.
