Bellefontaine teen charged for breaking into a safe

Bellefontaine Police were dispatched to South Detroit Street Thursday night at 9:00 for a theft complaint.

The victim told officers that they came home and discovered a safe in the home had been tampered with.

The back of the safe had visible pry marks and the back had been pried open.

Missing from the safe was a medical marijuana card, marijuana, and a vape pen.

Police were led to a 15-year-old boy who lived close to the home.

When confronted about the crime, the teen did not deny it.

He turned over a marijuana blunt and a cigarette pack which contained marijuana.

He then admitted to stealing the marijuana from the safe and smoking it.

The teen is under probation.

When asked by officers why he continues to commit crimes he didn’t have an answer.

He was arrested for safecracking and lodged in JDC in Marysville.
