A Bellefontaine woman is facing charges after an early Thursday morning traffic stop led to a drug-related arrest, according to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department.

Just before 4:00 AM, officers on patrol near North Detroit Street and West Sandusky Avenue spotted a Chevy sedan driving without a working license plate light.

The vehicle was stopped a short time later on Pratt Street.

The driver, identified as Ashley Shepherd, 41, of Bellefontaine, admitted she did not have a valid driver’s license.

Law enforcement also recognized her from a previous citation for the same offense and confirmed she had recently been cited again for driving without a license.

Shepherd was taken into custody, and while being detained, she admitted to having a pipe in her bra and confirmed it was used for smoking crack cocaine.

She was transported to the Logan County Jail and charged with driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
