A Bellefontaine woman was arrested after cocaine was found in a vehicle and a crack pipe was found on her.
The Bellefontaine Police Department observed a vehicle that failed to signal at the intersection of Williams Avenue and Lawrence Street Wednesday afternoon around 4:30 at the intersection of High Avenue and Walker Street. The vehicle then failed to stop behind the clearly marked stop bar.
A traffic stop was initiated.
While the vehicle continued traveling on High Avenue onto Walnut Street, the female was making movements in the passenger seat as if she was attempting to conceal something.
The driver continued traveling until the 300 block of Walnut Street and then stopped. The female passenger got out of the car and was told to get back in. The female claimed she did not know they were being stopped.
The female passenger was identified as Tina Huffman, 59.
The male driver gave consent to search the vehicle. During the search, officers found a piece of crack cocaine on the passenger seat where Huffman was sitting. The crack cocaine was field tested and came back positive.
When asked if she had anything illegal on her, Huffman admitted to possessing a crack pipe that she hid while being stopped.
Nothing else illegal was located inside the vehicle.
Huffman was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail and lodged on possession of drug paraphernalia.
The driver was released with warnings for the traffic violations.
The piece of crack cocaine and crack pipe were placed into police evidence.
Additional charges are pending.
